What’s The Best And Most Reliable Way To Get Lots Of Traffic On A Web Site?

Published by admin in category Web Traffic | 11 Comments

I want to build a web-store for my own products as well as some friends of mine. I know how to make the stuff and build the site. Now. How do I let everyone know where we are? Newspapers? Magazines? Search engines (how do I get listed on those anyway?)? Banner ads? What are some really good (creative) ways to get the word out? And if you can tell me how search engines work and how I can get them to pick me out of a crowd, I’d appreciate it! Thanks people!

The most effective way to advertise on the Internet is
to first set up a website and publish its domain name
on major search directories such as Google.com,
    Yahoo.com [at http://www.google.com/addurl/?...... and
MSN.com since 85% of Internet shoppers rely on these
search directories to provide them with goods and
services. In a sense, these search directories are a
    very large Internet Yellow Pages.
Nevertheless, should your website or opening webpage
fail to contain "generic" keywords, then anyone using
such "generic" queries will not be able to discover
your website. Your domain name [URL] of your website,
in a sense, will be invisible, undiscoverable.
You may want to consider some simple algorithms which,
when observed and committed in designing of a website
with placement of various critical metatags that can
surely achieve a high search engine presence and
increase Internet traffic to your website. These
metatag strategies work well with published webpages
    at Google and Yahoo.
Design: Should you create an extensive Flash-based
website, make sure to fill-in the property entries
such as the Title, Description and Keywords. Failing
to do so, leaves no hard HTML or ALT resource that can
be readily indexed by search robots. Also consider the
Internet audience and their incoming setup. For
example, if they are on analog/dialup, Flash webpages
take too long to load up and therefore analog users
will likely lose interest and discontinue entering the
Flash site. On the other hand, anyone on hi-speed DSL
lines, will welcome Flash pages which load quickly. So
before designing a pure Flash websitge, ask the simple
question, “Who’s my end user – is he on dialup or
DSL?” And if you had to choose between these two users
for maximum marketability, then select analog users
since 80% of most resident users are still analog
Internet subscribers and pure HTML designed webpages
    is best for them.
A non-Flash-based website which relies on hard text,
is far easier to be indexed by search robots. Limit
the use of stylized text saved as .gifs since as a
graphic, they are not indexable by search robots.
Avoid use of frames since any number of search robots
are unable to properly classify textual material.
    Placement of Metatags:
A ranking or search order does take place with Google
and Yahoo and it begins with the “Title” metag which
should consist of no more than 65 characters separated
by commas. The “Title” should describe in generic
terms, the goods and services, followed by a location
from which the resource is located, i.e., city, state.
The placement of a domain name which is not generic
within the “Title” is not appropriate, unless your
domain name is a major recognizable brand name.
The second metatag is the “Description” which is
usually 25-30 words to form a complete sentence which
best describes one’s goods and services.
And the very last category – “Keywords” are also
somewhat limited to 15-16 words which can be plural
and compound in nature. Again, avoid multiple entries
which could be mistaken as “spamdexed entries” which
is defined as the loading, and submission of
repetitive words into a particular metatag category.
“Spamdexing” when discovered on a webpage and reported
to Google’s spamreport.com can result in the
elimination of your website from their search
    directory.
    Good luck!

You need a web host that has an all inclusive program to assist you in building your website properly and getting the word out.
There is an art to doing it right. I am not a web master yet I have learned how to build a website for my business that is getting consistent targeted traffic. You can browse the web hosts site at http://www.tobuildyour.com They offer a lot of information on how to properly establish your business on the Internet. There motto is…..”Keep it Real” . Keeping it real consists of building a site that people will visit without paying a lot to advertise it. After all, so you want to advertise a site that people are not attracted too. They help to build a website that will rank high on the search engines. So when people do a search with related keywords to your site, your site will show up at the top. I hope this has helped. If I can answer any further questions, feel free to send me a message.
    BEST WISHES & HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

The most reliable way to generate significant traffic to your Web site is to take a portfolio approach to marketing. Start with the fundamentals: search engine optimization (SEO) and augment with pay-per-click (PPC), sprinkle a little link development and social media optimization with a garnish of SEO PR and you’re just about there. While search engine marketing (SEM) can generate awareness and traffic, it’s only part of the portfolio. I’m not a big fan of online display advertising, but it does have its place. To be truly successful in generating qualified and sustainable traffic, you’ll need to integrate offline marketing activities: advertising, public relations, direct response, events & promotions, etc. If it were easy, everyone would be a millionaire. That said, doing it well does maximize your potential success, so long as you’ve got an intuitive Web site with relevant content and a “remarkable” product (as Seth Godin would say). In fact, I always recommend spending a majority of your efforts on tuning up your site for optimal conversions before starting any marketing activities. I’ve been marketing Web sites since 1996 and have built out a fairly extensive Resource section on our Web site, complete with an SEO white paper and articles about social media, blogging, viral marketing and other progressive marketing strategies. I also suggest reading industry sites like ClickZ, eMarketer, SearchEngineLand and Search Marketing Standard. Good luck.

    Use web 2.0 platforms.
    1) Create a WP blog, write about your good offers with a link to your shop.
    2) Submit the post to Social Bookmarking sites, like Stumbleupon, digg and Reddit (for a list of social bookmarking see the source box).
Hubpages is another good web 2.0 platform.
A list of web 2.0 platsforms is also below.
After a day or 2 using these techniques you could be on the 1st page of Google, depending on your keywords. Google will start to crawl your WP blog within 24 hours, if you update it very day, Google will also crawl your blog every day or every other day.
    Choose your keywords wisely.

I think the answer lies in projecting yourself as the provider of quality information on the items sold. Are these things that you have first hand knowledge of?
Does it take a particular skill set to make the items., for example, making boomerangs or cuckoo clocks etc. etc.?
If the things you plan to make for selling are things that require a unique touch to make and or use, build your site around yourself being the sage provider of product and process.
Your “expertise” would then sell you as the “Sage”, and the search engines would do so as well.
A company that does a really good job at helping to pull the best of your knowledge out of you for presentation in this vein is “Sitesell or SiteBuildIt!
Their tools for these purposes are very user-friendly and novice oriented.
Checkout the sites below and determine for yourself how and why you fit.
